What You Will Learn

Use a structured reading sequence for sectional-chart symbols, airport information, boundaries, and altitude cues.
Distinguish controlled and uncontrolled airspace clues, then identify what current information or authorization must be checked.
Interpret common METAR and TAF elements in context instead of treating a single value as the entire weather picture.
Work through original FAA-style study scenarios with explanations that turn uncertainty into a focused next review step.

Who it's for

For remote-pilot applicants and working drone operators who want to study a defined Part 107 topic with short, self-paced lessons. It is independent education—not FAA training, an FAA credential, or a promise of a test result.

About This Course

Read the clues. Verify the conditions. Make the next sound decision.

Part 107 Weather & Charts Mastery is a focused, self-paced study course for the chart and weather questions that reward careful reading over fast guessing. Work through original scenarios on sectional-chart fundamentals, legend and symbology, airspace cues, altitude logic, METARs, TAFs, weather theory, and practical decision-making.

Each lesson gives you a repeatable sequence: identify the clue, explain what it means, name what must still be verified, and choose the next study or planning action. The course is designed to sharpen your Part 107 preparation without presenting practice material as an FAA exam or a real-world clearance to fly.

SkyPilot Prep is an independent education provider. Always verify current FAA sources, chart publications, NOTAMs, LAANC availability, and local conditions before flight.

Your study system

01

Chart-reading routines

Build a calm, repeatable process for locating symbols, boundaries, altitudes, airport context, and the chart legend before drawing a conclusion.

02

Weather in operational context

Connect METARs, TAFs, winds, visibility, clouds, and weather theory to a conservative planning question rather than an isolated definition.

03

Original scenario drills

Practice with fresh learning scenarios and clear explanations; these are not FAA knowledge-test questions or a substitute for flight planning.

Prerequisites

  • A basic Part 107 study plan and willingness to cross-check details with current FAA references.
  • A current sectional chart or chart-training reference for practicing the reading process alongside the lessons.
  • A notebook or notes app for recording chart cues, weather terms, and questions to verify before flight.

Completion record

Completion records your work in this SkyPilot Prep course. It is not an FAA certificate, rating, endorsement, authorization, weather briefing, or proof of testing or flight readiness.

Independent preparation

SkyPilot Prep is an independent education provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration. This course is training only; it is not legal advice, a weather briefing, an airspace authorization, or a substitute for aeronautical decision-making. It does not guarantee a passing score, certificate, operating privilege, regulatory compliance, or a safe flight outcome. Verify current FAA sources, chart publications, NOTAMs, LAANC availability, and local conditions before flight.

Questions before takeoff

Is this an official FAA course or a source of flight authorization?

No. SkyPilot Prep is an independent education provider. This course is training only and does not provide FAA approval, airspace authorization, legal advice, or a go/no-go decision.

Are the scenario drills actual FAA test questions?

No. The scenarios are original SkyPilot Prep educational material. They are not recalled test items, official FAA questions, or a reproduction of an exam.

How long does the course take?

Plan for about 2.5 hours of lesson time, plus additional time to pause with current charts and official weather references as you practice.

Can I use this course before a real drone flight?

Use it to strengthen your study and planning habits, then verify current FAA sources, NOTAMs, LAANC availability, airport information, weather, and local conditions before every flight.

What is included with this course?

Your enrollment includes the self-paced course lessons, the published course outline, and any free preview lesson shown on this page. It is independent preparation material; it does not include an FAA knowledge test appointment or FAA-issued credential.

How long can I access the course?

The current application keeps access available while your enrollment record remains active. It does not enforce a time-based access expiration. If a refund is approved, access to that refunded course may be revoked under the refund policy.

How does the 14-day refund policy work?

You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase when you have completed or accessed less than 20% of the purchased course. Submit the request through the refund policy or Contact page; requests are reviewed manually and are not automatically approved.

Does this course replace the FAA knowledge test?

No. This course does not replace the FAA knowledge test. Applicants must follow the FAA's remote-pilot steps, including taking the Unmanned Aircraft General—Small knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center.

Is the completion certificate an FAA certificate?

No. Any completion certificate is a SkyPilot Prep course-completion record only—not an FAA certificate, rating, license, or credential.

How do I register and schedule the knowledge test?

Create an FAA Tracking Number in IACRA, then schedule the Unmanned Aircraft General—Small knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center. Review the FAA's remote pilot steps before booking.

What are the score, question count, and test fee?

The current PSI UAG bulletin lists 60 scored questions plus 5 unscored validation questions, 120 minutes, and a 70% passing score. The FAA directs applicants to the testing provider to schedule and pay; confirm the current testing-center fee during booking. See the PSI UAG Applicant Information Bulletin.
