What You Will Learn
Who it's for
For remote-pilot applicants and working drone operators who want to study a defined Part 107 topic with short, self-paced lessons. It is independent education—not FAA training, an FAA credential, or a promise of a test result.
About This Course
Take a calm, repeatable workflow to the field.
First Mission Field Kit helps newly certified Part 107 remote pilots organize the work that happens around a mission: clarifying the client brief, checking the site and airspace, making a weather decision, preparing equipment, briefing people on site, documenting contingencies, and handing off cleanly afterward.
It is built for the moment after certification, when knowing individual rules is not the same as having a field-ready sequence. The toolkit turns a mission into a practical chain of decisions, records, and conversations you can adapt to your operation.
Intended student profile
This kit is for newly certified or early-career remote pilots preparing for straightforward commercial, client, or portfolio missions. It is especially useful if you have a capable aircraft and basic Part 107 knowledge but want a more dependable way to prepare, communicate, and document each job before habits form.
What you will build
- A reusable client-and-site brief that makes the requested deliverables, boundaries, people, and stop conditions visible before travel.
- A verification workflow for airspace, authorization, weather, local constraints, and changing conditions—without treating any checklist as an approval.
- Field-ready checklists for equipment, batteries, site safety, crew coordination, mission flow, contingencies, and post-flight handoff.
- Scenario practice that asks you to pause, identify what changed, document the decision, and choose the safest supported next step.
What this is not
SkyPilot Prep is an independent education provider. This toolkit is not official FAA material, legal advice, flight instruction, an operational approval, or an authorization to fly. Rules, guidance, airspace information, local restrictions, client conditions, and aircraft procedures can change. Verify current FAA and local requirements, follow your aircraft documentation, and use professional judgment for every mission.
Your study system
A field sequence, not a rule dump
The modules follow a mission from client brief through handoff, so each decision has a place before, during, or after the flight.
Original working templates
Copyable checklists and documentation prompts turn the lessons into a kit you can adapt rather than a stack of generic reminders.
Scenario-led judgment practice
Short field scenarios surface changing conditions, scope pressure, and uncertainty so you can rehearse pausing, verifying, and documenting.
Prerequisites
- You hold a current Remote Pilot Certificate or are working with an appropriately qualified remote pilot for the mission.
- You can access current FAA airspace and operational information, current local or site requirements, and your aircraft manufacturer documentation.
- Bring a note-taking system and adapt the templates to your client agreement, operating context, and professional judgment.
Completion record
Completing this kit records your personal SkyPilot Prep learning progress. It is not an FAA certificate, endorsement, rating, authorization, operating approval, or evidence of regulatory compliance.
Independent preparation
SkyPilot Prep is an independent education provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration. First Mission Field Kit is not official FAA material, legal advice, flight instruction, an operational approval, an authorization to fly, or a guarantee of safety, compliance, mission success, certificate status, or any outcome. FAA rules and guidance, airspace and weather information, local restrictions, site requirements, and aircraft procedures can change. Verify current FAA and local rules, follow applicable client and manufacturer requirements, and use professional judgment for every mission.
Questions before takeoff
Is First Mission Field Kit an official FAA course or approval?
No. SkyPilot Prep is independent. This is an educational planning toolkit, not FAA material, an endorsement, a waiver, an authorization, or approval to conduct a flight.
Does this replace airspace, local-rule, or client-site verification?
No. The kit gives you a workflow for organizing verification. You must check current FAA information, local or site restrictions, client requirements, and any operational conditions that apply to your specific mission.
Is this flight instruction or legal advice?
No. It does not provide flight instruction or legal advice. Follow your aircraft documentation, consult qualified professionals when appropriate, and use professional judgment before deciding whether or how to fly.
Will these templates make every mission safe or compliant?
No checklist can guarantee a safe outcome or regulatory compliance. Use the templates as prompts, stop when facts are uncertain or conditions change, and verify the current sources that govern your mission.
What is included with this course?
Your enrollment includes the self-paced course lessons, the published course outline, and any free preview lesson shown on this page. It is independent preparation material; it does not include an FAA knowledge test appointment or FAA-issued credential.
How long can I access the course?
The current application keeps access available while your enrollment record remains active. It does not enforce a time-based access expiration. If a refund is approved, access to that refunded course may be revoked under the refund policy.
How does the 14-day refund policy work?
You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase when you have completed or accessed less than 20% of the purchased course. Submit the request through the refund policy or Contact page; requests are reviewed manually and are not automatically approved.
Does this course replace the FAA knowledge test?
No. This course does not replace the FAA knowledge test. Applicants must follow the FAA's remote-pilot steps, including taking the Unmanned Aircraft General—Small knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center.
Is the completion certificate an FAA certificate?
No. Any completion certificate is a SkyPilot Prep course-completion record only—not an FAA certificate, rating, license, or credential.
How do I register and schedule the knowledge test?
Create an FAA Tracking Number in IACRA, then schedule the Unmanned Aircraft General—Small knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center. Review the FAA's remote pilot steps before booking.
What are the score, question count, and test fee?
The current PSI UAG bulletin lists 60 scored questions plus 5 unscored validation questions, 120 minutes, and a 70% passing score. The FAA directs applicants to the testing provider to schedule and pay; confirm the current testing-center fee during booking. See the PSI UAG Applicant Information Bulletin.
